A lot of people know that chiropractic is terrific for low back pain, neck pain, headaches, and car accidents, but that only covers the smallest piece of the chiropractic pie. In fact, chiropractic was never intended for pain relief; chiropractic was intended to help increase your body’s function.
Hi guys, Dr. Jamie Adams, with Covington family chiropractic. And today, I want to talk about overall health, wellness, and function. You know, a lot of people know that chiropractic is terrific for low back pain, neck pain, headaches, and car accidents, but that only covers the smallest piece of the chiropractic pie. In fact, chiropractic was never intended for pain relief; chiropractic was intended to help increase your body’s function.
Â
Every day, I get to meet and talk with practice members in our office that are struggling with their health. They’re taking tons of medications. They’re having tons of health challenges, and they’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, right. If this describes you in your life, well, I have some excellent news for you. Now, what chiropractic is about like I mentioned, is restoring function to the body.
Â
So as chiropractors, we move the bones of the spine to help with proper function. So let’s talk about why this is important for you. When these bones shift out of their proper alignment, they start to put interference in the nervous system. Remember, guys; your nervous system is the lifeline to the body. Right now, it is controlling your heart beating, your lungs breathing, your stomach digesting your last meal, so it controls every single function in your body. All of those things are happening because your brain is sending messages out down the spinal cord and out to all of these nerves in your body. And guys, these nerves go to every organ tissue, muscle cell extremity. So as I mentioned, you’re breathing; your heart is beating. Your stomach is digesting. Imagine for just a minute that you were in a car accident, and now one of those bones has shifted out of its normal, proper alignment, putting pressure on a nerve controlling one of those areas.
Â
Well, what if I told you that nerve pinched goes to controlling your heart and your lungs. How do you think that could affect the way your heart beats and the way your lung functions? And when we have a body part, that’s not working at its very best, it happens. It begins to start giving us problems and giving us health challenges. So if we’ve got a pinched nerve, that’s going to our heart and lungs, we could be experiencing things like asthma and allergies, sleeping problems, snoring, and sleep apnea. If we’ve got a pinched nerve going to our hearts, it could lead to high blood pressure, low blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat. And that is true for every single one of these. The usual way to correct and fix those things will be to give you a medication for that.
Â
Is a prescription going to fix it? Not if the nerve is still pinched and not sending the correct messages out to that part of the body.
It’s only going to give a temporary solution to a chronic problem that you have. Unfortunately, what comes along with taking a lot of medications, sometimes has devastating side effects.
Â
With chiropractic care, we can find these areas of your spine, where those misaligned bones are out of their healthy alignment structure, begin to take the pressure off by adjusting to its normal, proper alignment. Taking the pressure off these nerves allows your brain to fully communicate with every single part of your body. The only outcome that you can have on the other side of that is 100%, much better health.
